Day 4
Catching is half the hobby
The big story, not a definition

Hook
Before anyone explains battle charts, kids already understand “GOTCHA.”
The bit
Collecting explains a lot of the chaos: pack rips at the kitchen table, “one more” hunts that eat an afternoon, binder pages that must be completed or the universe will tip over.
Some kids are collectors. Some are battlers. Some are story kids who care who hugged who in episode whatever. Most kids rotate like a lazy Susan. If you only measure the hobby by competitive charts, you’ll miss why a totally ordinary card can still cause Olympic-level cheering.
“Sounds like a catch night” is fluent parent. Use it freely.

Why kids light up
Progress you can hold. A fuller box. A louder shout. Tiny treasure, huge mood swing.
Tonight spark
Try this tonight
Collector, battler, or story player this month — what’s the leading vibe?
Rabbit hole
If they claim all three, ask which one stole the most hours this week. Time tells on everybody.
